tdr0766_The reason why Tokyo Disneyland became “Tokyo Disneyland” even it is in Chiba prefecture

This is a question probably came up in your mind once.

Like “how come Tokyo Disneyland has “Tokyo” on it even it is located at Urayasu City of Chiba prefecture?”.

It is a no problem if it is actually in Tokyo, but it is in Chiba. May be there are people who think “then why not Chiba Disneyland”.

There is a solid reason why Tokyo Disneyland became Tokyo Disneyland even it is in Chiba prefecture.

That reason is…

1: Park is in Tokyo area (Accessible from Tokyo)
2: Location can be clear (Can be able to specify the range even it is rough)
3: Tokyo is the capital of Japan and is well-know worldwide (Easy to acknowledge by people abroad)
etc.

From the reasons above it was decided on “Tokyo Disneyland”.

Other than that “Oriental Disneyland” by combining “Oriental Land”, which is a operating company and “Disney” or “Disneyland Japan” that emphasizing it is in Japan was considered.

“Oriental Disneyland” or “Disneyland Japan” is not familiar, so it doesn’t really sound right.

When comparing these it was a right decision naming it “Tokyo Disneyland” even it is in Chiba prefecture.
