【tdr0058】Secret of the biplane in the Lost River Delta

The ‘Lost River Delta’, one of the theme ports of Tokyo DisneySea, is set in an archaeological site in tropical rainforest in the Central America in the 1930’s where excavation work is going on. This is the greenest spot in the theme ports of Tokyo DisneySea.

Along the canal running through the Lost River Delta, a biplane (a plane with two main wings for the lift) is parked. Surprisingly, this plane is Dr. Indiana Jones’. The Lost River Delta has the attraction ‘Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull’. Dr. Jones working there has flown to the canal.

If you look closely at the biplane, you will find the serial number “C-3PO” on it. This may remind you of the humanoid droid in the “Star Wars” series, directed by George Lucas. You are right; the number comes from that charming droid.

“Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars” have another thing in common.

Dr. Jones flies a biplane in the beginning of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. The plane says “OB-CPO”, which refers to the Star Wars character Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It may be natural that these films have something in common because both are created by George Lucas, but such a sense of humor sprinkled throughout the film is what is good about Disney’s work.
